In Dunarobba, near Avigliano Umbro, we can observe one of the three examples of millenary fossil forest in the world. Unlike the other two this one is standing and not petrified and its trunks fossilized without deteriorating. The result is one of the most ancient
woods on Earth, with 15 meters high and 3 meters large trees. Passing through Montecastrilli we reach Acquasparta where, in 1603, the Accademia dei Lincei was established. The village has Roman origins like the near Carsulae, a few kilometers far, quoted in the annals for its fruitful soil. Here we can perceive history while we admire ruins like the arch S. Damiano, the thermal baths with mosaic flooring, an amphitheatre, two small twin temples and several buildings of the Roman forum. Our itinerary ends in San Gemini, a medieval jewel, famous for its salubrious mineral waters, before coming in Terni.
